    About Me

Hey there and welcome to Roamingtaste!

Iโ€™m Sylvie Taylorโ€”a recipe developer, food photographer, videographer, and, most importantly, the main taste tester behind every dish youโ€™ll find here.

My love for baking began in childhood, and as a self-taught baker, Iโ€™ve spent years perfecting made-from-scratch recipes that are approachable, reliable, and full of flavor.

    What you can find here

Roamingtaste was created from a passion for exploring international foodโ€”particularly bakingโ€”and sharing dishes Iโ€™ve discovered on my travels. Whether itโ€™s a traditional favorite or a modern twist on a classic, my goal is to show you that baking can be simple, fun, and done with ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen.

Here, youโ€™ll find trustworthy recipes paired with step-by-step instructions and detailed notes explaining each ingredientโ€™s role (plus the best substitutes, where needed). My camera helps capture every step so you can feel confident bringing these dishes to life in your own kitchen, while honing your baking skills along the way.

Letโ€™s dive into the joy of bakingโ€”one recipe at a time!

    Dishes I'd bake you

    More about me:

    • Iโ€™m completely self-taught in the kitchen, driven by a passion for creating and sharing recipes that bring people together.
    • Many of the international recipes here are the result of deep research, crafted to stay true to their traditional roots while being approachable for home bakers like you.
    • I grew up in New Zealandโ€™s and now call London home, but my heart will always have a special place for the ocean.
    • Behind every photo is my trusty Canon 600D, a companion Iโ€™ve relied on since 2011 to capture the essence of each recipe.

      Hi Sylvie,
Just discovered your website which I shall roam about on later, when I have more time.
I found your Icelandic Cornflake Cookies and as I am off to Iceland next month (terrifed of freezing while there as this Kiwi is one who feels the cold in a big way even though I live in the North East of England) I thought I would look at some recipes from Iceland. I hear that they eat a lot of lamb so am hoping to find some lamb recipes on here. My partner is a very set in his ways Pom and doesnt eat anything weird so we can only go places that serves good plain food and as he ist keen on fish I thought maybe a couple of Icelandic lamb recipes would be good to get him used to Icelandic food - mind he does do sweet things.
I shall enjoy roaming about your website looking for recipes and will send your url to my daughter back in New Zealand as she loves to cook and try out new recipes as well.

Hi Denice! Ohhhh that's very exciting. Well I can let you know now that we found lots of vegetable soup in most places whilst traveling around Iceland (I went with my dad who hates the cold too, but it'll win you over with it's charming ways ;)) Also, hot dogs are the most popular fast food and they're much the same as what you've likely tried elsewhere. Oh and if you find a bakery, definitely give some of their baked goods a go - warming cardamom flavors, but also a little Kiwi in feel. Really hope you have a wonderful time over there and hope you give those cornflake cookies a go sometime.

However I am starting a course in Aged Care and JOhn will later in the year so we can find employment in a stable sector and maybe move home in a cupola years.

Your travel tips are great and I need to have a thorough read of your site.

      Love
