Picnic in the Park – Handmade Lemonade


Sometimes all you want is a zesty, cooled drink that has been attributed to kids selling on sidewalks.

Yes, I am talking about a cool glass of lemonade.

A simple recipe that will never grow out of fashion, especially when its hot out.

Of all the drinks to take to a picnic I chose Lemonade because it is such a summer staple. Its also highly refreshing to bring the body temperature down from sweat level.

And those rosy cheeks back to regular color.

This recipe can be made a few days ahead, and it’s best to add the sugar as early as possible so it dissolves into the drink instead of sitting at the bottom of the bottle.

Makes 2 liters/1/2 gallon

6 lemons, juiced
1/2 cup sugar
2 tablespoons maple syrup
4 cups water

Pour the sugar into the bottle you will add the juice to and serve with.

Add the lemon juice and maple syrup.

Shake to ensure all the sugar is moist and begins to dissolve. Refrigerate for 2 hours.

Remove, shake once more and add the water.

Refrigerate for a further hour (or freeze for 30 minutes).
