Welcome to my site, thanks for visiting. This blog is all about bringing foreign cooking into your kitchen and the ability to take something you’ve heard of/tasted on an adventure/seen somewhere right to your home screen and show you how to make it yourself. So if you love foreign food, cooking and seeing a little bit of the world then this site is a place you might like to visit often.
Roamingtaste was created when my life needed a shake up in early 2012 on the cusp of turning 25. It was either this or run away on some rebellion which at the time I didn’t have the funds for. I’m originally from New Zealand (the land of hobbits and sheep), but these days reside in
London Auckland London (again) and am either busy in the kitchen or planning my next trip somewhere.
With travel being in my blood and so many places to see, I have found it motivating to get out there and see as much as possible, mostly on my own. This means I try to share what I discover on trips with you and give you a little more information before you visit.
I don’t use advertisements or pop ups on this blog to make it a welcoming place, but running this site does cost time and money so if you would like to donate to keep me going, it would be greatly appreciated.

Fun facts about me:
My go to tradition while on my adventures is to read ‘Into the Wild’ by Jon Krakauer. Infinitely powerful read.
My childhood was spent mere steps away from the beach and the ocean still has a vast pull on my destinations.
One of my favorite things to do while in a new land is go for a long walk and see what I can discover.
I’ve recently come to the conclusion that my love of cooking and retaining recipes in every corner of my existence is due to losing a cookbook in my childhood – the chocolate mousse and corn fritters I never had a chance to make and share with others spurs me to save every recipe I find in the hopes it is a long lost recipe I have seen before.
I have finished writing my first novel entitled ‘Inspiring Hope,’ which is now in the never ending edit stage.
I’m still an unpaid writer.
Greatest tip I’ve ever received regarding travel: “You won’t be the same when you return, but you have to make the best out of the reality you are faced with.” It’s true!
One of the greatest quotes I know is ‘Keep true to dreams of thy youth’ by Friedrich von Schiller, I hold this close to my heart because life has a way of getting in the way of this.
As seen in the images above, I have a deep passion of photography that began early and when I’m not cooking or planning adventures, I spend a large portion of my time with a camera in hand seeing what I can capture. The camera of choice is a Canon 600D and it’s been a trusty and steadfast piece of my life since two thousand and eleven.

Now, if I could make you anything it would be this delightful chocolate mousse because it takes time to create and then more time to reach perfection and time is the best thing anyone can be given.
I do love chocolate in all it’s glory and I’m not partial to which shade it is.
But of all the meals, Breakfast is by far my favorite of the day. Let’s make no mistake that sitting down to Eggs Benedict is always fulfilling, with or without bread underneath (for those gluten intolerant).
