Description

Throw all the ingredients together and knead until a smooth dough has formed. Let sit until it has risen then bake for 30 minutes. This bread couldn't be easier!

Ingredients

750 milliliters / 1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 teaspoon honey
1 packet active yeast
560 grams / 4 cups bread flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon olive oil
117 grams / 1 cup walnuts, halved

Instructions

  • Place all ingredients into a bowl and combine with a spatula or wooden spoon until a dough forms.
  • Turn onto a flour dusted work surface and knead until the dough is smooth and no longer sticky to the touch, approximately 3 minutes.
  • Pour 1 tablespoon of neutral oil into the base of large bowl and swirl to coat.
  • Place the dough into the large bowl, cover with a damp teatowel and place somewhere warm for 2 hours or until doubled in size.
  • Preheat the oven to 180°C/350F.
  • Roll the dough out into a ball, brush the base of the baking tray lightly with olive oil. Place the dough onto the baking tray and brush.
  • Cut lines into the dough and bake in the oven for 30 minutes or until lightly golden and it sounds hollow when you knock on top.
  • Allow to cool fully before slicing and serving.

Notes

Type of nuts: Walnuts have a beautiful flavor that works great in bread, but if you don't love them, a similar nut such as pecans would also work well here.
